Hunting

Clearfield County has plenty of room for hunters, and special seasons for bow and muzzleloaders. Several sportsmen's groups in the area also hold shoots and contests throughout the year, which are open to the public. Hunters are welcome at Wopsononock Natural Area, a 550+ acre CCRTA owned and managed plot in Southern Clearfield County. Close to two state game lands, hunters will find "wopsy" to be a favorite spot for deer, bear and turkey. Hunting is also permitted on State Game Commission leased land near Curwensville Lake Recreation Area, which has extended its season to accomodate hunters wishing to camp close by.
Fishing

Clean water, pure air, and an ecosystem found nowhere else makeClearfield County one of the best places to fish in the country. Miles of protected streams where Brook Trout dance on the water, lakes that are teeming with Bass and Walleye, and rivers with plenty of room for fly fishing are just some of the reasons anglers from across the USA trek here year-round.
Fishing isn't just a spring thing. Bundle up,grab your gear, and head here for some ice fishing. Just be sure to be safe and check conditions before stepping out.
Feeling competitive? Think you're pretty good? Test your skill by entering one or several of the fishing tournaments held here each year. Several sportsmen's clubs and angler groupssponsor more tournaments and derbies than we can list here.
