To get the full experience of golfing the backwoods. backroads. backwaters. you will have to play each of these one of a kind golf courses. The DuBois area is a good trail head with four courses relatively close to one another.   

The trail begins at Treasure Lake which is host to two 18 hole, PGA rated golf courses. The Gold Course is ideal for the golfer welcoming a challenge. It’s very narrow and wooded layout has 55 sand traps and hazards demands accuracy from 3 sets of tees.  The Silver Course is more open and friendlier to the beginning golfer than the Gold Course. The Silver Course hosts 70 sand traps and water hazards on flat, wide open fairways for spacious landing from 4 sets of tees.  Putting accuracy is essential on these well manicured greens. 

The next stop on the Golfing Trail is the DuBois Country Club nestled on a hillside in the City of DuBois is an 18-hole, century old golf course offering breathtaking views of traditional Western Pennsylvania terrain. The DuBois Country Club also provides onsite the Driving Range, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Banquet Facility, Pool and Pavilion.  

Located on rolling hills and tree lined fairways Beechwoods Golf Course offers challenges to all skill levels. At 5662 yards from the championship tees, the length is not the major concern for golfers, however water hazards and undulating greens require precise shot making. Beechwoods Golf Course also offers a full service pro shop with most major manufacturers on the premises. There is a full service restaurant on-site as well as banquet and wedding facilities.  

Scottish Heights golf course features mature tree-lined fairways, sculpted landing areas and well-protected, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on five holes. Our signature hole is Number 4 (135 yards, par 3), which requires a tee shot over Rattlesnake Creek onto the green. Rattlesnake Creek is one of the state's purest trout streams. 

A short drive will get you to the 9-hole family owned course set in peaceful rural farm land. Kenterra is a must play for folks looking for something different. Located next to an active farm, it may very well be the only time you will view a corn field as a hazard.  With the changes in elevation and slope each hole is a memorable experience. 

Located in the rolling hills of Central Pennsylvania, Eagles Ridge Golf Club is a challenging public golf course that sits above the Susquehanna River in Curwensville, PA.  Eagles Ridge presents beautiful white sand traps, fantastic greens and boasts beautiful mountain views.  It has many features that set it apart from other public golf courses.  Eagles Ridge also has a practice range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant, and lounge.


The last stop on the backwoods. Backroads, backwaters.  golf trail is at Chetremon Golf Course. Chetremon or Chet, is an expansive 10 hole course that occupies a variety of fairways enabling you to try every golf shot in your bag. While on the course, you may find yourself in white sand, tall grass, or blue water, but hopefully, on a lush green fairway.  


While playing a round, you may see wildlife in the surrounding forest, fish jumping, or mallard ducks flying above the bordering Susquehanna River, which wraps itself around the course. You may even catch a glimpse of an old coal train rolling down the neighboring rail road tracks. 


You will need a long weekend or two to play the entire trail and receive the bragging rights. Many of our hotels offer stay and play packages and will set your tee times for your in advance.
